1902-20

The first Bahá'í in Switzerland, in Sion/VS, Amriswil/TG and Yvorne/VD

1933 Opening of an International Bahá'í Office in Geneva

1942 First summer school of the Bahá'ís of Switzerland in Zurich

1953 Founding of the National Spiritual Assembly of Italy and Switzerland

1962 Founding of the National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís of Switzerland with its seat in Bern

1967 To members of government and numerous personalities in public life, the Bahá'í community of Switzerland presents copies of the book "The Proclamation of Bahá'u'lláh" a compilation of Bahá'u'lláh's messages to 19th century world leaders as well as to the generality of mankind

1978 A bi-partisan appeal by the Swiss Parliament is made on behalf of the persecuted Bahá'í minority in Iran.

1981 Opening of a branch office of the Bahá'í International Community in Geneva (with consultative status at the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations).

1983 51 Bahá'ís from Iran who were persecuted for their religious belief receive refugee status in Switzerland

1986 The document "The Promise of World Peace", published by the UnIversal House of Justice (the international governing body of the worldwide Bahá'í community), is presented to the Swiss government. This is the beginning of an intensive campaign to promote peace and to work closely with likeminded organizations.

1991 Distribution of a congratulatory message entitled "The Future of Switzerland — A Bahá'í Perspective" to the Swiss people on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the Swiss Confederation.

1998 The Swiss Bahá'í community consists of 30 groups and over 1000 members.

2003 Centenary of the Community
